St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is known for its help with anxiety and depression, SAD & OCD, nerve injury, inflammation and pain, menopause, PMS & menstrual cramps, hemorrhoids, removing toxins, arthritis and gout, ulcers & gastric problems, chest colds, congestion & respiratory issues, and more! It can be applied topically as well as used internally.
As always, be sure to check with a medical practitioner if you are using medication or have any concerns.
In particular, these things are really good to know about Hypericum:
**When taking internally, it’s best to use for a couple weeks, and then take a week off. Repeat.
Avoid intense or prolonged exposure to sunlight/UV rays while taking St. John’s Wort.
Taking St. John's wort along with birth control pills might decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills. If you take birth control pills along with St. John's wort, use an additional form of birth control.
Taking St. John's wort with antidepressants might increase the risk of the accumulation of high levels of serotonin in your body. Too much serotonin can cause mild to severe side effects.
We are so excited to share this plant ally with you. It appeared in mass quantities on my property this summer and I am so thrilled to have organic homegrown hypericum for this amazing tincture ~ pure, organic and made with so much love.
